Project target

Since 1978 the 150 years old earthen dwelling is listed. The dwelling is a unique testimony of the life of the inhabitants of a village in the Mark Brandenburg. Despite its ruinous condition the structure possessed rarity value, the original floor plan was still intact and there were well-preserved black kitchens. The development association Landschaftspark Nordost and BAUFACHFRAU Berlin got involved in the redevelopment.

Project steps

Under the direction of BAUFACHFRAU Berlin e.V. a redevelopmet plan and a concept for future using were created. The redevelopment works - except the completion of the interior - were executed by employment centre funded workers and specialist firms. The apprentices of the carpenter’s trade and the construction workers received the opportunity to experience historical wood joinery and earth building techniques.

Result

By now the place is used as a community centre, including a café and rooms for exhibitions, feasts and conferences.
