The boiler house is part of the monument ensemble of the protestant hospital Queen Elisabeth Herzberge. With its three generations of steam boiler technology (1893-1961) at an authentic location the boiler house is a worth preserving industrial monument documenting Berlin industry at the turn of the century.
Together with initiators of the hospital and the development association Museum Kesselhaus e.V. BAUFACHFRAU Berlin e.V was involved in the boiler house’s redevelopment.
Under the direction of BAUFACHFRAU Berlin e.V. a redevelopment plan and a concept for future using were created. The redevelopment works on building and technology were executed by employment centre funded workers and specialist firms.
By now the former boiler house is a museum hosting cultural events and conferences. It is run by the development association Museum Kesselhaus e.V.
