Project target
Creation of a cross-generational meeting place
Realisation of the construction project - outdoor roofing with seats, swings and a sandbox boat - with the help of children, youths and parents living in the neighbourhood. Their participation should increase identification and prevent vandalism.
Project steps
The project was divided into two phases:
1. construction of the outdoor roofing with seats
2. construction of the sandbox boat with slide and climbing chute, erection of the swings.
The preparatory actions - measuring, excavation of the sod, casting of the concrete foundation, placing of the bottom sleeves and the filling with gravel and bark mulch were executed by the selfhelpers. The static wood constructions were erected by the cabinetmakers of BAUFACHFRAU Berlin e.V.
All further work steps - the application of the wooden lagging - were executed by the children and adults.
